All the News That's Fit to be Tied

I have an axe to grind, but unlike the New York Times, I freely admit it.

Trump, the Treadmill and Your Health

If you are a member of a health club, for example Equinox, you can find a newsletter called Times Digest, which advertises properties on the Big Island, Hawaii and provides summaries from NYT articles and a crossword puzzle. This may or may not say something about who the editors of this digest think read it. At any rate it is great reading while on the treadmill. Something in the June 18th issue caught my eye. It was a book review about Raven Rock, the new book by Garett M. Graf about the federal government's plan to save itself in the event of an all out nuclear attack. Built on the paranoia of the Cold War, the book explores underground  facilities in West Virginia and Pennsylvania (to name two), but that is not what caught my eye. It was the last paragraph which had little to do with the book and highlights the liberal bent to attach President Trump to anything of which they disapprove to put him in an unfavorable light. Graff's conclusion is, according to reviewer Justin Vogt, "The best defense against worst-case scenarios is competent, rational leadership that avoids them altogether." It is then that Mr. Vogt crosses the line from reviewer to axe grinder when he includes a totally vicious and uncalled for cheap shot on President  Trump: "In the Trump era, however, that might be harder to find than a secret underground bunker." An uncalled for crack like that could stop you in your tracks while your on the treadmill and you might fall and break your neck.

A Day to Remember

On Memorial Day we mourn those who have given their lives in service to our country and its values of freedom, liberty and equality. So on this sacred day, when we remember those who died in wars large and small, I am wondering why so many in our country openly admire, support and propagate the enemies of the values we admire. For example the organizers of the Puerto Rican Day Parade have decided to honor FALN terrorist Oscar Lopez Rivera, who was pardoned by former President Barack Obama. You have to ask the basic question; why is there admiration for such a vicious killer? Is it because he attacked The Congress, planted bombs that killed hundreds including civilians and police or it is just the mindless admiration of tyrants? New York's Mayor DiBlasio, the same man who openly supported a socialist revolution working with the Sandinistas in Nicaragua, expressed his admiration for Fidel Castro and honeymooned in Cuba is attending the parade. Along with members of the City Council the admiration parade for enemies of our country continues. Some, like Univision, Goya Products and others have pulled out in protest, but the stalwart supporters of tyranny hold their ground. It has, it seems, become a value synonymous with the Democrats.  Show me one Republican or Conservative with similar values. Their open admiration of America's enemies. Their support for those who betray the nation. Their open support for anything anti-American. While many of us remember the fallen, our progressive friends spit on their graves. Always remember this day so it can never be taken away or forgotten by those who think it's better to not remember.

It's Time to Trump the Federal Bench

America's courts are being used as a weapon by liberal judges who are intent upon supporting any resistance to announced Trump policy prescriptions. It is time for the President to wrest back the power that rightfully belongs in the Office of the President. From the hold on the first immigration ban to the latest hold on defunding sanctuary cities, the courts are over reaching by nuffifying laws that are already in place, but have not been enforced. The President must defy the courts by enforcing the law and asking Congress to use its impeachment power  to recall judges acting outside their duties as described by the Constitution. It is time for America's judges to be judged.

Marching For Science?

On April 22 there were more than 100 organized events at colleges, universities and Democrat-run cities around the country under the misnomer "Marching for Science." The only trouble was they weren't championing the scientific method, they were supporting scientific indoctrination. They were in support of science they believe and dismissive of science they don't. For example, despite the lack of knowledge concerning the climate change debate most of these marchers believe in it as a destructive concept which we must prevent. On the other hand despite the overwhelming proof that once a human egg is fertilized by human sperm it has 46 chromosomes and is distinctly human, most of these marchers believe abortion is not murder, just a hard choice. Now we come to indoctrination: From birth Humans are the most malleable species. Humans can be trained and indoctrinated to almost any purpose. A human from birth can learn any language or any set of customs. They can be trained to be kind or cruel, gulible or skeptical, honest or dishonest, religious or atheist. They can be taught to believe a given set of facts and without access to contrary information will never disbelieve those facts. For example, TV host Bill Maher said last week that the US was killing people more slowly with CO2 than Assad was killing Syrians with Sarin gas. Apparently he forgot his 7th grade biology where we learned that CO2 and Oxygen share a symbiotic relationship without which there would be no life on Earth. This one little proven, undisputed fact that we learned in the 7th grade puts the lie to the March for Science. If you follow the money it's not about climate change at all. It is about the research funding, which is in the hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars, that goes to universities and professional researchers who have a lot to lose if the Congress starts talking a close look at how research money is spent. It's your money.

Rep. Nunez Hands Democrats A Win

The Republicans continue to demonstrate why the Democrats consistently kick the GOP around the halls of Congress. Rep. Nunez of the House Intelligence Committee recuses himself from the investigation of the Trump/Russia Connection and Susan Rice leaks of Trump team members. Basically this leaves the committee in the hands of the ranking Democrat, Adam Schiff; a real friend of funding the truth. (Lol) Over and over again the Republicans cave to the ridiculous demands of a drowning Democrat party who would rather take the country down than to observe the "peaceful transition of power" they often espoused before the election of Donald Trump. For my Republican friends who still don't get it; The Democrats are out to destroy you and the President. Fight back or get another job.

Repeal at Last?

Ongoing healthcare talks prove one thing: President Trump will not relent on his promise to repeal ObamaCare and will achieve that goal. The most obvious solution is full repeal, the temporary retention of Medicaid and the withdrawal of the Federal Government from the healthcare business. This is, of course, not possible. However, full repeal should be the first effort. It is something the Republican House and Senate can agree on. They can see through all of the hysteria created by supporters of ObamaCare and know no one will be left to die in the street because they don't have health insurance. Fear is the only defense supporters of the status quo have to defend ObamaCare, which is nothing more than an income guarantee for insurance companies funded by the taxpayers of the United States. Repeal it now.

Republican Redo - The Stupid Party

The Republican Party should rename it self The Stupid Party. After our incendiary election, the Democrat effort to rig and steal the election, the collusion of the media to help the Democrats and the now obvious obstruction by the Democrats in every facet of governing, a small faction the Republican Party, that couldn't see the forest for the trees decided to sabotage their own President, the one they claimed they needed to "get things done." The Republicans proved two things yesterday. They proved they don't understand how ObamaCare is constructed and that the Democrat Party is working in concert with the bureaucracy to destroy any attempt by President Trump to change it. By voting down the package the Freedom Caucus has taken away the ability of the HHS Secretary to alter the regulations to control the health care market. For years the Republicans paraded the pile of 30,000 pages of ObamaCare regulations and said "this is the problem." They were right then and they were wrong yesterday. By forcing the cancellation of the vote the Freedom Caucus stops Secretary Price from de-regulating ObamaCare. The Republican's failure to vote on the bill gives the Democrats new hope that their obstruction techniques are effective and that is why the party should be renamed The Stupid Party.

Milo Yiannopoulos and Donald Trump

Today is one of those days where I hardly know where to start. The assault on the Trump Presidency has become outrageous. I could have hardly imagined the day when the progressive left Democrats would unite with the Soros financed Astro Turf protesters in an attempt to destroy the country because they don't like President Trump. When the Federal Court system would usurp a power enumerated to the President in the Constitution and the supposed free market (Wall Street) would conspire to destroy Twitter, his major weapon against a media that has proven is bias and makes no bones about its lack of fairness and objectivity. But President Trump has a new weapon against his serpentine enemies and his name is Milo Yiannopoulos, a gay, jewish, immigrant from Britain with a Greek heritage. His appearance at Berkeley in San Francisco last week absolutely blew the doors off as paid protesters caused a riot, hundreds of thousands in property damage and injuries to innocent bystanders all in the name of tolerance. One person was arrested as the police stood by and watched with orders to stand down. Milo's book, Dangerous, is giving our politically correct system fits. It is being gobbled up by Millennials and fair-minded people all over the country. It is truly more than the progressive left can stand. I have long predicted the turn around in American politics would happen. That in time the political pendulum would swing the other way. It's happening and the behavior of the unhinged progressive Democrat movement is living proof. Thank you Milo and thank you Donald Trump's America.

Repeal And Replace

To fully appreciate this column you should read the one that precedes it, which is located below. The subject is ObamaCare and the hysteria being created to protect it from reform. The Democrats in Congress, their allies in the press and hundreds of progressive interest groups are trying to paint the Republicans into in-action to preserve what is probably the worst development in medical care since they used leeches to cure infections. "If you repeal ObamaCare, what are you going to replace it with," is the challenge posed by Democrats. In fact, replacing ObmaCare is really a false choice because ObamaCare is primarily regulations written by Health and Human Services (HHS). The Affordable Care Act gives HHS the authority to write the regulations that control how ObamaCare works. And, they have written some 30,000 pages of regulations creating an impossible web for insurance companies, doctors, hospitals and patients to understand. Innumerable mandates, complex regulations and record keeping and murky funding streams are all designed to collapse the system and bring about a single-payer, government run system. The two primary examples of government healthcare you should consider are the Veterans Administration Hospital system and Medicaid. In the column below I explain why most people with ObamaCare will not be affected by its repeal so I don't want to go over it again. What I want to stress is that ObamaCare can be undone by the new Secretary of HHS. Rescinding regulations that govern the content of healthcare plans will free insurance companies to offer stylized plans which will cost less and reduce interference between doctor, patient and insurer. Since 75-percent of ObamaCare users are on Medicare and  Medicaid they will not be affected by repeal or deregulation of the program. The remaining 25 percent will get a better policy at a better price. All of this can be done without repeal, except for the individual mandate, which must be repealed by the Congress. The rest can be done by HHS. Get to work, Gentlemen and Ladies; It's in your hands.

Let's Talk Obamacare

Everybody want's to talk Obamacare; so let's. The Republicans want to repeal and replace and the Democrats want to save its sorry ass. By every measure except the illusion that it provides free healthcare for the "poor" ObamaCare is a total failure. Have a look: There are 300 million people in America and ObamaCare provides  over-rated and over-charged healthcare for 20 million. Of the 20 million, 15 million are medicare and medicaid recipients who would be covered by those programs under the current rules. So in truth we are left with the original 5 million who lost their plans when ObamaCare was passed in 2009. They are still the only paying customers the program has. Almost everybody else in America has an employee-based or government-based healthcare plan. The uninsured not on Medicare or Medicaid still remain uninsured. The mandate has failed despite the penalties and hospital emergency rooms are still full to overflowing. I could throw a whole bunch of stuff in here and make this the kind of discussion supporters of the program would like to use to preserve it, but when you bare away the leaves the simple facts are plain. ObamaCare's limb's are dead because it is a sellout to insurance companies financed by the taxpayers of America. Up Next: Repeal and Replace.
